Professor Dr. Mohammed Ansarul Alam obtained his MA (in 2005) and PhD (in 2015) Degree majoring "Japanese Language Education" from the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) and the Japan Foundation, Japan. He received the Japan Foundation Scholarship and the Monbukagakusho (MEXT) Scholarship to pursue the Master and Doctoral program in Japan. Earlier, he completed BSS (Honours) and Masters in International Relations at the University of Dhaka. Prof. Dr. Alam pursued advanced research as a Visiting Research Fellow at the Japan Foundation from September 2018 to August 2019 (Grant: Hakuho Foundation); and Visiting Research Fellow at the Seikei University, Tokyo from July to August 2022. Dr. Alam also participated in Long-term Teachers' Training, Advanced Training for the Teachers etc. in Japan. He also participated in a good number of online teachers training conducted by the Japan Foundation, Japan.

In addition to the academic degrees and research in relevant fields, he has passed the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N1 level, the highest level of the proficiency. He is the Founder President of the Japanese Language Teachers’ Association of Bangladesh (JALTAB) and Dhaka University Institute of Modern Languages Alumni Association (DUIMLAA). At present Prof. Dr. Alam is the Teacher In Charge (Head of the Department) of the Dept. of Japanese Language and Culture, IML, DU.

Prof. Dr. Alam is the Co-editor of the book entitled "Foreign Language Education for National Development: Contribution of the Institute of Modern Languages (IML)". So far he has published more than 20 research articles in relevent fields and presented more than 50 research papers in International, Regional and National Conferences. He has been pursuing researches in the fields of “Foreign Language Education Policy”, “Case Method”, “Business Communication”, “Cross-Cultural Communication”, “Bangladesh-Japan Relations” etc.
