The Department of Television, Film, and Photography upholds a clear academic mission: to produce knowledge and nurture expertise in the creative and cultural industries, particularly film, television, and photographic practices. Our programs are designed to cultivate critical understanding, creative expression, and professional skill, enabling students to contribute meaningfully to the media landscape and to broader cultural discourse.
Our graduates have established strong professional presence in leading television networks and film production studios across Bangladesh. Student-produced films and documentaries have received recognition at both national and international platforms, reflecting the department’s commitment to rigorous training and creative excellence. A significant number of our alumni are also pursuing advanced degrees at renowned universities around the world.
The Department maintains a vibrant extracurricular and collaborative culture. Students actively participate in the TFP Film Club, the TFP Photography Club, and BAHAS (TFP Debating Club), which regularly organize workshops, film screenings, discussions, and interactive sessions with distinguished professionals from the media, cultural, and creative sectors. Alongside these academic and creative forums, the TFP Sports Club plays an important role in promoting physical well-being, teamwork, and holistic student development by organizing sporting activities and representing the department in interdepartmental competitions, thus fostering a healthy campus culture.
Our faculty members bring specialized expertise across diverse areas of media studies, production, and cultural theory. Many of them also contribute to national policy dialogues on the broadcast and film industries. In addition, practitioners from the media and creative sectors teach courses in the Department, ensuring sustained industry-academia collaboration and bridging academic training with real-world professional practice.
