I completed my academic journey at Georg-August-Universität, Göttingen, Germany, where I obtained a PhD in Mathematical Biology in 2002 and an MS in Dynamical Systems in 1999. I also completed my M.Sc. and B.Sc. (Hons) from the University of Dhaka in 1992 and 1989, respectively. Following the successful completion of my M.Sc, I was appointed as a lecturer at Shah Jalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet in 1992. I later became a member of the academic staff at the University of Dhaka in 1994.

I have authored over 70 scholarly articles, which have been published in esteemed national and international journals in collaboration with foreign academics. I currently hold the position of President of the Bangladesh Mathematical Society (BMS), having previously served as Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Executive Member for the past eighteen years. I held the position of President for Dhaka University Mathematics Alumni Association (DUMAA) commencing from 2021 - 2023.

I have successfully planned and executed numerous international and national mathematics conferences and workshops in collaboration with the Department of Mathematics and Bangladesh Mathematical Society (BMS) at the University of Dhaka. I held the position of Local Coordinator for the CIMPA Research School, in 2019 (first in Bangladesh), focusing on Dynamical Systems and Their Applications to Biology. I managed a series of training initiatives for Mathematics instructors in colleges and schools, backed by CASIO, under the auspices of the Bangladesh Mathematical Society. My academic interests include Mathematical Biology and Biomedicine, Epidemiology of Infectious Diseases, Dynamical Systems, Differential and Integral Equations, and Mathematical Analysis. In my academic career, I have supervised a total of four PhD students, two M.Phil scholars, forty-four MS candidates, and seventy-eight undergraduate honors students. At present, I am supervising five PhD researchers, three MS, and five undergraduate honors projects.

I served as the Head of the Department of Mathematics at University of Dhaka from December 1, 2021 to October 28, 2024. Currently, I hold the position of Vice Chancellor of Pirojpur Science and Technology University, located in Pirojpur, Bangladesh
