A new trust fund titled “Dhaka University Economics 1976 Memorial Trust Fund” has been established at the Department of Economics of Dhaka University.  Students of batch 1976 of DU Economics Department have donated money to establish this Trust Fund. Information Commissioner Suraiya Begum, ndc handed over a cheque for Tk. 16 lac on behalf of the batch 1976 to the Vice-Chancellor of DU Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman today January 27, 2022 at the latter’s office to set up this trust fund.

 DU Treasurer Prof. Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, Dean of the Faculty of Social Science Prof. Dr. Zia Rahman, Registrar Probir Kumar Sarker and Romen Chandra Basak, Ameer Abdul Wahab and Golam Hafiz Ahmed were, among donors, present on this occasion.

Out of the income of this donation, every year two financially challenged first year BSS (Hons) students, one from male and another from female of DU Economics Department will be given monthly Tk. three thousand as scholarship money.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman thanked the donors for their donation. He urged others alumni of the university to come forward with their helping hands for financially challenged students following the example of batch 1976 of DU Economics Department.
