Teachings of Sri Krishna in Establishing an Inclusive Society
On Thursday, August 21, 2025, the Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue (CIID) in collaboration with the Department of World Religions and Culture, University of Dhaka, organized a Special Seminar titled “Teachings of Sri Krishna in Establishing an Inclusive Society”. The event was held at the Dr. Sakina Azhar Seminar Room (5006, Arts Building) and commenced at 11:00 AM.
The seminar was graced by Professor Dr. Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman Khan, Honorable Dean of the Faculty of Arts, University of Dhaka, who attended as the Chief Guest. The keynote address was delivered by Swami Ambeshananda, a Senior Monk of Ramakrishna Mission, Dhaka, whose insightful reflections on Sri Krishna’s teachings emphasized the timeless relevance of compassion, pluralism, and social harmony.
Professor Dr. Milton Kumar Dev from the Department of History contributed to the discussion, offering a historical lens on the inclusive ethos embedded in Krishna’s philosophy. The welcome address was delivered by Professor Dr. Md. Abu Sayem, Chairman of the Department of World Religions and Culture, who highlighted the importance of interreligious dialogue in contemporary society. The seminar was presided over by Professor Dr. Mohammad Elius, Director of CIID, who underscored the role of spiritual teachings in fostering intercultural understanding and inclusive governance.
The seminar drew participation from faculty members, students, and scholars across disciplines, fostering a vibrant exchange of ideas on the intersection of religious teachings and inclusive social frameworks.
