I am a teacher and supervisor of research at the Department of Microbiology, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. The courses I teach are General Microbiology, Human Physiology, Microbial Molecular Genetics, Pharmaceutical Microbiology, Public Health and Epidemiology, and Epidemiology of Infectious Diseases. My research interests encompass Bacterial biofilms, Antibiotic Resistance, Pathotyping and Phylotyping of Indicator Bacteria, and Bacteremia in Cancer Patients. I have supervised several BSc, MSc, and MPhil students. I have received grants from various national funding sources. To my credit, I have over 30 International and National publications. I have also participated in several national conferences.
Microbiology is my passion and I intend to contribute to this field through teaching and research for the welfare of mankind.Show less

This project was designed to study the presence of linear plasmids in Bangladesh. A 27kb linear plasmid from this bacterium has been known to occur in Indonesian isolates.

|Phylodynamics||My group also investigates phylodynamics of the indicator bacteria E. coli in order to assess its current status in the environment.|
|Antibiotic resistance||My research interest also focuses on antibiotic resistance profile, resistance genes and mobile genetic elements. This interest flared from the fact that antibiotic resistance is a common phenomenon in Bangladesh.|
