The Centre for China Studies (CCS) has officially announced the selected research proposals for 2025. Like every year, CCS invited project proposals from public and private universities, government agencies and think tanks across Bangladesh. This year’s competition was particularly intense, reflecting the growing academic and policy interest in Bangladesh-China relations.
For 2025, the thematic areas focused on China-Bangladesh bilateral relations amid political transitions, the role of media in bilateral cooperation, trade and tariff policies and research on solutions to the Rohingya issue. These areas were chosen to deepen understanding of the evolving dynamics between the two nations in light of recent global and regional developments.
After careful evaluation, the following projects were selected:
Each selected project will receive a grant of 50,000 RMB to support in-depth research throughout the year.
This year’s selection highlights Bangladesh’s growing academic engagement with China on pressing geopolitical, economic and humanitarian issues. It also demonstrates the increasing enthusiasm among Bangladeshi scholars and institutions to contribute to the broader discourse on China-Bangladesh cooperation and regional stability.
