Twenty-three meritorious students and one distinguished faculty member from the Institute of Statistical Research and Training (ISRT), University of Dhaka, were honored with the prestigious Dean’s Award under the Faculty of Science for the academic sessions 2021, 2022, and 2023. The award ceremony took place on November 12, 2025, at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban, University of Dhaka. The awards were presented by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, Prof. Niaz Ahmed Khan, PhD. The event was presided over by Prof. Dr. Abdus Salam, Dean of the Faculty of Science, and attended by Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Prof. Dr. Sayema Haque Bidisha, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Dr. Mamun Ahmed, and Treasurer Prof. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury as special guests.

This year, ISRT proudly celebrates that 23 out of 76 total awardees (over 30%) were from the institute — a remarkable testament to its academic excellence and commitment to quality education. These students received the Dean’s Merit Award for achieving a CGPA of 4.00 out of 4.00 and the Dean’s Honor Award for securing a CGPA of 3.85 or higher in their BS (Honors) program—without any improvement examinations.

Faculty Recognition:

ISRT’s Professor Israt Rayhan was also honored with the Dean’s Award 2022 in the Professor/Associate Professor category for his research paper titled “Understanding the Impact of COVID-19 on the Informal Sector Workers in Bangladesh.”

Publication Incentive Cash Awards:

Additionally, ISRT lecturers Tasnim Ara and Tarikul Islam were recognized for publishing research papers in Q1 journals. Each received a cash prize of BDT 50,000, which will be officially presented during the Dean’s Award ceremony.
