1	Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning (RAC) Section	The Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning (RAC) Section was formally entrusted with its responsibilities through a SYNDICATE meeting held on 09 November 1995. Initially, the section commenced its activities by providing repair services only for air conditioners and refrigerators. However, with the improvement of the university’s quality standards and the expansion of its academic and infrastructural facilities, the RAC Section has gradually evolved. At present, the section is responsible for the repair, servicing, and maintenance of a wide range of RAC-related machinery and equipment. The primary responsibility of the RAC Section is to ensure the proper operation, maintenance, and smooth functioning of all refrigeration and air-conditioning–related machines throughout the university. Its services extend to all academic and administrative units, including departments, offices, residential hall offices, institutes, the Senate Building, the Teacher-Student Center (TSC), and libraries. By conducting timely servicing, troubleshooting, and repair of faulty components, the section plays a vital role in ensuring the reliable performance of these essential facilities. The RAC Section is entrusted with the servicing, routine maintenance, and repair of the following equipment: • Air Conditioners • Refrigerators • Freezers • Dehumidifiers • Ultra-Low Temperature Freezers • Incubators • Water Bath Machines • Shaking Incubators • Stability Chambers • Water Cooler Machines • Laminar Air Flow Units • Cool Flow Machines • Industrial Chillers • Seed Germinator Machines.
2	Electrical Section	The major responsibilities of this section include: Repair and Maintenance: • Regular inspection, repair, servicing of electric lines, switchboards, sockets, related wiring systems & fan rewinding. • Troubleshooting electrical faults to prevent power outages and ensure the safety of users. • Overhauling and upgrading old electrical installations to meet modern safety standards. Installation and Upgradation: • Installation of new lighting fixtures, including tube lights, LED systems and other energy-efficient electrical fittings across classrooms, laboratories, offices and common areas. Support for Academic and Research Activities: • Providing technical assistance to laboratories and departments in setting up and maintaining electrical connections for sensitive instruments. Preventive Maintenance and Safety: • Conducting periodic safety checks of electrical wiring and equipment to prevent accidents, fire hazards and equipment damage.
3	Electronics section	The key responsibilities and areas of work include: Laboratory Equipment: Repair and maintenance of essential laboratory instruments such as water baths, electric ovens, autoclaves, magnetic stirrer, microwave ovens, incubators, spectrophotometers, digital balances, centrifuges, and vacuum pumps. Assisting in the installation of new laboratory equipment and providing guidance on proper operation and handling. Electronics & Testing Instruments: Servicing and troubleshooting of specialized testing and diagnostic devices, including oscilloscopes, power supplies, signal generators, and other measuring or monitoring instruments. General Use Equipment: Maintenance and repair of commonly used electronic appliances such as projectors, grinding machines, multimedia equipment, and other audio-visual devices essential for teaching and administrative work. Technical Support for Research & Projects: Providing hands-on assistance to students and faculty members in troubleshooting and operating electronic devices used in research projects. Supporting innovative student and faculty projects by offering guidance on electronic design, circuit building, and testing.
4	Mechanical Section	Mechanical Section The Mechanical Section plays a vital role in providing comprehensive mechanical engineering support to the university. Its primary responsibility is to ensure the smooth functioning of all mechanical systems and equipment that are regularly used by teachers, researchers, and students in academic activities, laboratory experiments, and research projects. The branch undertakes the following functions: Repair and Maintenance: Regular servicing and troubleshooting of existing mechanical equipment to ensure safety, reliability, and extended lifespan of laboratory and workshop tools. Design and Fabrication: Development and manufacturing of new research apparatus and project-based equipment, tailored to the specific requirements of faculty and students. This also includes custom modifications to improve performance and efficiency. Technical Assistance: Providing hands-on technical support for student projects, faculty research, and experimental setups, thereby bridging the gap between conceptual design and practical implementation. To perform these tasks, the branch operates a well-equipped workshop with: Lathe machines for shaping and machining components Grinding machines for precision finishing Drilling machines for accurate hole-making and assembly work Welding equipment for fabrication and joining tasks In addition, welding and fabrication services cover the manufacturing and repair of diverse equipment for departmental research projects, supporting activities in the energy park, repairing trolleys, constructing cages for air-conditioner installations, and other general workshop requirements. Optical Section The branch also includes a specialized Optical Section, responsible for the repair and maintenance of precision optical instruments used in faculty departments. These include microscopes, traveling microscopes, telescopes, and binoculars.
5	Plumbing Section and Carpentry Section with Optical Section	Plumbing Section Water line repair work related to the circulation of water lines of various machines, including laboratory and sanitary water line repairs for science-related faculty departments. Key responsibilities include: Providing general laboratory water line repairs. Providing specific water supply for specialized equipment such as distilled water machines, suction pumps, and X-ray machines. Supporting water line repair work for research projects. Carpentry Section The responsibilities of the Carpentry Section include: Installing and repairing general wooden fixtures, including chairs, tables, and cupboards. Fabricating and repairing wooden research equipment to support laboratory work. Managing general installation tasks such as mounting nameplates, pictures of the head of state, and departmental boards. Optical Section Different types of microscopes and binoculars are repaired and maintained in this section.
