The Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatun Nessa Centre for Gender and Development Studies, University of Dhaka, in collaboration with the Daily Ittefaq, will host a roundtable discussion on May 5, 2024, at 2:45 pm, themed "Women’s Digital Transformation: A Gateway to Sustainable Development".
State Minister for the ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak will be the chief guest at the roundtable. Secretary for the Women and Children’s Affairs Ministry Nazma Mobarek, Zara Mahbub, MP, member of the parliamentary standing committee on foreign affairs, Farida Yeasmin, MP and president of the National Press Club will be the special guests at the event.
Professor Dr Lafifa Jamal, Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering Department of the Dhaka University, will present the keynote at the roundtable, while the event will be conducted by Dr Tania Haque, director, the Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatun Nessa Centre for Gender and Development Studies, University of Dhaka; and Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal, vice-chancellor of the University of Dhaka, will chair the event.
The roundtable will be attended by faculty, students, the ICT Cell of the University of Dhaka, SDG Program, a2I: Aspire to Innovate program, Bangladesh Mahila Parishad, entrepreneurs, NGOs, and representatives from mass media.
The discussion aims to spotlight key research issues and identify gender gaps in policies to foster a discrimination-free society. Additionally, a special supplement highlighting the roundtable will be published in The Daily Ittefaq.
