DU Meteorology Graduate Earns Prestigious Lloyd V. Berkner Travel Fellowship, Showcases Research at AGU 2025
The academic journey of Sifat Tanzil Ovi (M.Sc. 6th Batch, Session 2022–23), Department of Meteorology, University of Dhaka, has recently reached an important milestone through international research exposure. She received the Lloyd V. Berkner Travel Fellowship 2025, awarded to promising early-career scientists and students, providing full funding to present research at the AGU Fall Meeting.
She presented her research at the AGU Fall Meeting 2025, held in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, through a poster presentation, based on her M.Sc. thesis titled “Evaluating WRF-ARW Diagnostic Methods for Lightning Early Warning System in Bangladesh.” The study contributes to the advancement of lightning early warning methodologies under regional meteorological conditions.
Currently working as a Research Assistant at Eutech Systems Limited, she is contributing her expertise to earth and atmospheric research and related projects. Prior to starting her professional career, she gained valuable internship experience at the Regional Integrated Multi-Hazard Early Warning System (RIMES). Her achievement reflects the strength of research and academic training fostered within the Department of Meteorology, University of Dhaka.
