Dr. Mohammad Ferdows is a Professor of Applied Mathematics and the Group Leader of the Research Group on Fluid Flow Modeling and Simulation in the Department of Applied Mathematics at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Following the completion of his PhD, he joined Toyota Technological Institute, Japan, as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. Dr. Ferdows has been recognized among the World’s Top 2% Scientists, according to the ranking published by Stanford University/Elsevier’s.

His research focuses on fluid flow phenomena, particularly convective boundary layer flow and multiphase flow, bridging both fundamental (Science) scientific inquiry and engineering (applied) solutions. His work aims to enhance the understanding of fluid behavior and develop practical applications in engineering and biomedical contexts.

Dr. Ferdows has made significant contributions to bio-engineering frameworks, including research on vascular coronary arteries and flow abnormalities, stenosed arteries caused by plaque formation, biomedical imaging such as Computed Tomography Angiography (CTA), and the visualization of hemodynamic phenomena. His research also involves the development and application of computational methods to measure and predict the composition and fractional occupancy of cavities in clathrate hydrates under varying temperature and pressure conditions. These studies integrate electronic structure interactions and molecular ensemble modeling to better understand structural properties and phase equilibria. His research primarily relies on theoretical and computational approaches to develop comprehensive insights into flow dynamics and molecular mechanisms.

Dr. Ferdows has conducted extensive international research and academic collaborations. He undertook Senior postdoctoral research at Nuclear Science Research Institute and postdoctoral research at Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) and National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan. He has also worked as a researcher at Tokyo Metropolitan University, Shizuoka University, Osaka University, and Universiti Sains Malaysia. In addition, he has held visiting professorships at Louisiana Tech University (USA), King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Technological Educational Institute of Western Greece and University of the Peloponnese. He also served as a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at King Abdulaziz University, Saudi Arabia, and continues to hold adjunct faculty positions at several universities in Bangladesh.

In recognition of his outstanding research contributions, Dr. Ferdows has received numerous prestigious fellowships and awards, including the National Science Foundation (NSF) Fellowship (USA), the Excellent Research Activity Award from the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences, the Ibrahim Gold Medal award for Research Achievement from the University of Dhaka, the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey Fellowship, the JAEA Fellowship (Japan), and the Center of Excellence Fellowship from National Cheng Kung University. He has also been awarded fellowships from the Yazaki Memorial Foundation for Science and Technology, the Toyota Foundation, and the Monbukagakusho Scholarship from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan. Additional fellowship offers were extended by University of Twente (Netherlands) and University of Liverpool (UK). Furthermore, he received the Dean’s Award from the Faculty of Science at the University of Dhaka for his outstanding contributions to scientific research.

Dr. Ferdows is a member of the American Mathematical Society and a life member of both the Bangladesh Mathematical Society and the Bangladesh Mechanical Engineering Society.

His research has resulted over 360 publications, comprising 263 articles in peer-reviewed journals and 97 papers presented at Conferences, Symposiums, and Workshops with more than 5,267 citations and h-index of 37 .

He also serves as a referee for over 100 Journals around the globe. He has been involved as an editorial board member and conference committee member for 28 Academic journals and international conferences. He is and has been involved in successful 37 Research projects financed by the University of Dhaka, University Grants commissions, Ministry of Science and Technology, Bangladesh Medical Research council, Bangladesh Ministry of Education, Bose Center, King Abdulaziz University, Kuwait University, Louisian Tech University, King Abdulah University of Science and Technology, University Persil’s Malaysia, Higher Education, KA171 Erasmus+ Programme as well as in collaborations with companies and Universities. Additionally, he has delivered more than 38 Invited talks at national and international scientific congresses.
