The University of Dhaka became Champion in the Project Showcasing Track at the national artificial intelligence–based competition titled “VisionX: AI-Powered National Innovation Challenge.”
The competition was organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), University of Dhaka, and was held on Saturday, 15 November 2025, at the Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan, presided over the award-giving ceremony. Mr. Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, Adviser to the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources and the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges and Railways, attended the program as the Chief Guest and distributed prizes among the winners.
Earlier in the morning, the inaugural session was held where the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Dr. Sayma Haque Bidisha, attended as the Chief Guest.

The program was chaired by the Chairman of the CSE Department, Professor Dr. Md. Abdur Razzaque. Special guests included Professor Dr. Upama Kabir, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, and Mr. Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun, Managing Director of US-Bangla Group.
In his speech, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan encouraged students to continue practicing innovation, creativity, and critical thinking. He emphasized strengthening collaboration between industry and academia and working together for the welfare of the people. Adviser Mr. Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan highlighted the importance of using artificial intelligence to prevent waste of public resources and to serve public interests. He stressed the need to focus not only on theoretical knowledge but also on practical implementation. Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Sayma Haque Bidisha stated that the importance of artificial intelligence is increasing rapidly in the modern technological era. She emphasized the use of AI in healthcare, food production, and food processing and expressed optimism that skilled youth can help build a developed and strong Bangladesh.
The competition had two tracks:
Business Idea Track, where innovative business ideas were presented
Project Showcasing Track, where AI-based projects and innovations were displayed
In the Project Showcasing Track, the University of Dhaka became Champion, while the University of Dhaka and Islamic University of Technology became 1st Runners-Up, and Daffodil International University became 2nd Runners-Up.

In the Business Idea Track, Leading University and Shahjalal University of Science and Technology became Champions.
In this track, the University of Dhaka became 1st Runners-Up, and Shahjalal University of Science and Technology became 2nd Runners-Up.

The Champion team received BDT 100,000 along with a two-day trip to Bangkok. The 1st Runners-Up team received BDT 80,000 and a trip to Cox’s Bazar, while the 2nd Runners-Up team received BDT 50,000 and a trip to Cox’s Bazar.
