The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the University of Dhaka successfully organized a workshop titled “Importance of Research, Publication, Collaboration, Higher Studies and Emerging Skills in Elevating Career at the University of Dhaka” on 23 June 2026 at the Professor M. A. Latif Auditorium, Department of Geology, University of Dhaka.
The workshop aimed to inspire and raise awareness among students, young researchers and faculty members regarding the importance of research, scholarly publications, academic collaboration, higher studies and the acquisition of emerging skills essential for building successful academic and professional careers in an increasingly competitive global landscape.
The program started by a welcome address delivered by Professor Dr. M. Rezaul Islam, Director of IQAC, University of Dhaka. In his remarks, he emphasized the significance of quality education, research excellence and continuous skill development in nurturing future leaders, researchers and professionals.

The workshop was graced by Professor Dr. Md. Mufazzal Hossain, Honorable Dean of the Faculty of Science and Professor Dr. Upama Kabir, Honorable Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, University of Dhaka as Guests of Honor. In their speeches, both distinguished deans highlighted the growing importance of interdisciplinary research, innovation, and international collaboration in addressing contemporary challenges. They encouraged students and young researchers to actively engage in research activities, pursue higher education opportunities and develop future-oriented skills to enhance their academic and professional competitiveness at both national and global levels.

The keynote session was delivered by Professor Dr. Saidur Rahman, Research Professor and Head of the Research Centre for Nano-Materials and Energy Technology (RCNMET), Sunway University, Malaysia. In his session, he shared his experiences and perspectives on the critical role of research and publication, international networking, higher studies and emerging technological competencies in shaping successful careers. He also discussed global research trends and opportunities for aspiring scholars and researchers.

The workshop concluded with an engaging open discussion and question-and-answer session, where participants actively interacted with the keynote speaker and guests, exchanging ideas and seeking guidance on various academic and career-related issues.
