The International Center for Ocean Governance (ICOG), University of Dhaka organized the Research Grant 2025–2026 and ICOG Scholarship 2025–2026 (First Installment) Grant Distribution Ceremony on 08 July 2026 (Wednesday) at 10:00 AM in the Meeting Room (Room No. 1306), 13th Floor, Earth and Environmental Sciences Faculty Building (New 21-Storey Building), Curzon Hall Area, University of Dhaka.
The ceremony was presided over by Professor Dr. K. M. Azam Chowdhury, Director of ICOG, Associate Professor of the Department of Oceanography, and Assistant Proctor of the University of Dhaka. In his remarks, he emphasized the importance of supporting young researchers and students engaged in oceanography, coastal studies, climate change, and Blue Economy research, and highlighted ICOG’s commitment to strengthening marine research and academic excellence in Bangladesh. Among the distinguished guests was Cdr. Nasrin Umme Nahar, Head of the Department of Oceanography and Hydrography, Bangladesh Maritime University (BMU). She appreciated the initiative taken by ICOG and encouraged the scholarship recipients and research grant awardees to pursue high-quality scientific research and contribute to sustainable marine and coastal development.
During the ceremony, six students from different universities received the ICOG Scholarship 2025–2026 (First Installment). The recipients represented the University of Dhaka (DU), Bangladesh Maritime University (BMU), Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), and the University of Chittagong (CU). The scholarship was awarded in recognition of their academic achievements and potential contributions to oceanographic and marine science research.
In addition, research grants were awarded to faculty members of the University of Dhaka for conducting research on topics related to oceanography, climate change, coastal vulnerability, marine governance, and sustainable Blue Economy development.
The program concluded with an interactive discussion among the guests, faculty members, researchers, and scholarship recipients. A group photograph was taken to commemorate the occasion, marking another important milestone in ICOG’s efforts to promote research excellence, capacity building, and collaboration in the field of ocean governance and marine science in Bangladesh
