Local time, October 15, 2026, the unveiling ceremony of the “Yunnan Hand in Hand Program” Brightness Action to Bangladesh was successfully held at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.H.E.Sardar Md. Sakhawat Husain, Minister of Health and Family Welfare of Bangladesh, and H.E.Liu Yuyin, Chargé d'Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh, attended the event. Sponsored by Yunnan Provincial People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, the project was jointly implemented by The First People’s Hospital of Yunnan Province, China and Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Bangladesh. The Confucius Institute at University of Dhaka participated in the event as a co-organizer and provided support.

As the 9th public-welfare livelihood project of the “Yunnan Hand in Hand Program” in Bangladesh, Brightness Action adheres to the philosophy of “small yet beautiful, benefiting people’s livelihood, delivering quick results and pursuing sustainability”. Chinese ophthalmology experts from Yunnan worked closely with Bangladeshi medical staff and completed free cataract restoration surgeries for 100 local patients, bringing them the gift of sight. The medical team also conducted medical supplies donation and technical exchanges, sharing experience in ophthalmic diagnosis and treatment to help improve local ophthalmic medical service capacity.

Giving full play to its role as a platform for people-to-people exchanges, the Confucius Institute at University of Dhaka offered support including communication coordination and language interpretation, facilitating practical cooperation between Chinese and Bangladeshi medical practitioners. This medical outreach initiative not only delivers tangible benefits to local residents, but also consolidates people to people bonds between China and Bangladesh, serving as a vivid example of bilateral cultural and friendly exchanges.
