Discusses about conducting Clean Dhaka Campaign
A two-member delegation led by Mr. Jumpei Taniguchi, Deputy Director of International Volunteer University Student Association, the largest student volunteer group in Japan called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul Islam today August 03, 2026 at the latters of the university. Other member of this delegation was Mr. Koyo Tokuriki, Student Representative from Ritsumeikan University, Japan.
Director of the Institute of Modern Languages of DU Prof. Mohammad Absar Kamal and Dr. Md. Monir Uddin were present on this occasion.
During the meeting the Japanese delegation members expressed their willingness in conducting ‘Clean Dhaka Campaign’ from February 01, 2027 to February 08, 2027 in participation with 30 students from different universities of Japan. They also wanted to work together with Dhaka University teachers and students in creating awareness on environment among the people. They discussed the possibilities of undertaking joint collaborative academic and research programs among Dhaka University and different Japanese universities in strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Bangladesh and Japan. Organizing seminar, symposium and cultural events under the joint auspices of Dhaka University and different universities in Japan were also discussed in the meeting.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul Islam thanked the guests for their visit to Dhaka University and keen interest in undertaking ‘Clean Dhaka Campaign’ program. He assured the delegation members of providing all possible support and cooperation in implementing this program.
