A new Trust Fund titled ‘Prof. Dr. A H M Habibur Rahman Trust Fund’ has been established at the Department of Finance of Dhaka University (DU). Prof. Dr. A H M Habibur Rahman handed over a cheaque for Tk. 15 lac to DU Treasurer Prof. Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed  today September 20, 2020 at the Vice-Chancellor’s office to set up this trust fund. Vice-Chancellor of DU Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman was present there as chief guest.

Besides, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abdul Moyeen, Chairman of the Department of Finance Prof. Shabbir Ahmad, faculty members Prof. Dr. M. Khairul Hossain, Prof. Dr. Mahmood Osman Imam, Registrar Md. Enamuzzaman and donor’s family members were also present on this occasion. 

Out of the income of this Trust Fund, every year one student who will secure the highest CGPA in MBA examination from DU Finance Department will be given ‘Prof. Dr. A H M Habibur Rahman Gold Medal’. Besides, another poor but meritorious student of the same department will be given scholarship.

DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman thanked Prof. Dr. A H M Habibur Rahman for his donation to establish this trust fund and hoped that the students of Finance Department would be highly inspired and benefitted by this generous initiative.

It may be mentioned that Prof. Dr. A H M Habibur Rahman was former Dean of DU Business Studies Faculty (1981-1987) and founder Chairman of DU Finance Department. He retired from DU in 2016.
