Dr. Mohammed Almujaddade Alfasane

Professor Dr. Mohammed Almujaddade Alfasane has started his journey as Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) on May 07, 2026. He has an outstanding academic career. He obtained First Class securing First Position in both the B. Sc. (Hons.) and M. Sc. (Thesis) examinations. He received his B.Sc. (Hons.) and M.Sc. (Thesis) in Botany in 1997 and 1998, respectively from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. In 2008, he earned his Ph.D. in Hydrobotany from the same University. Since June 2003 he has been working as a faculty member in the Department of Botany, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. At present he is serving as a Professor of Botany, Faculty of Biological Sciences at the University of Dhaka. His noticeable skilled areas include Phycology, Limnology and Hydrobiology. He supervised 3 Ph.D., 1 M.Phil., 26 M.S. students and at present supervising 4 M.S. and 3 Ph.D. students. His research highlights includes describing 14 phytoplankton, 2 seaweeds, 1 aquatic Cultivar and 1 aquatic angiosperm as new to science; invention of Nanofilter from Pithophora algae for drinking water purification and invention of high performance supercapacitor from Pithophora polymorpha algae derived carbon with other collaborators at home and abroad. In addition, 160 algal taxa and 6 aquatic macrophytes have been newly recorded from Bangladesh. He has published 67 research articles in ISI and peer reviewed journals, 7 Books and 2 Book Chapters. Currently, He is serving as the Chief Editor of Bangladesh Journal of Plant Taxonomy (ISI indexed; Impact Factor 0.679 in 2020-2021), and associated with several professional organizations, international journals in the capacity of Reviewer, and External Examiner of Ph.D. Thesis evaluation of foreign countries. Several awards have already been credited into his account.
