Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul Islam leaves Dhaka today June 03, 2026 for Turkiye on a 7-day official visit to attend Zero Waste Forum to be held from 5-7 June in Istanbul. He will join the program at the invitation of President of the Zero Waste Foundation, Turkiye.

It may be mentioned that Zero Waste Forum will bring together more then 100 ministers from different countries, international organizations, academia, private sector and civil society. This Forum will also create a platform for policymakers to discuss zero waste and climate change as well as promote collaboration and explore sustainable approaches across sectors, the organizers hoped. 

 During this visit DU VC Prof. Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul Islam will take part in different programs and hold bilateral talks with the authorities of Zero Waste Foundation. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the University of Dhaka and Zero Waste Forum will be signed to promote inclusion, equity and responsiveness to vulnerable people.

He is expected to return home on June 09, 2026. Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Dr. Abdus Salam in addition to his duties will discharge routine works of the Vice-Chancellor.
