Prof. Dr. Kozo Watanabe of Ehime University, Japan called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul Islam today July 20, 2026 at the VC’s office of the university. Prof. Dr. Anwar Hossain of DU Fisheries Department was present on this occasion.

During the meeting they discussed about implementing a project on “Water Quality Monitoring and Purification Technologies to Control Health Risks for Antimicrobial Resistances (AMR) in the Dhaka Metropolitan Area” with the financial and technical support from JICA. Dhaka University will play role as implementing institution of this project. 

They also discussed the possibilities of establishment of an International Collaborative Research Laboratory as well as a Satellite Office at Dhaka University to strengthen joint collaborative researches between Dhaka University and Ehime University, Japan.  Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul Islam thanked the guest for his visit to Dhaka University and keen interest in its academic and research activities. He expressed his willingness to work with JICA and different Japanese universities to promote academic and research activities at DU. 

Later, Prof. Dr. Kozo Watanabe met with DU Pro- Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof. Dr. Mohammed Almujaddade Alfasane at his office.
