The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), University of Dhaka inaugurated the Foundation Certificate in University Teaching and Learning (FCUTL)-2026 on 04 April 2026 at the Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development (BARD), Kotbari, Cumilla.
The program designed exclusively for faculty members of the University of Dhaka aims to enhance teaching excellence, academic leadership and professional development in higher education.
The opening session began with registration followed by a brief overview of the program delivered by Dr. Mustak Ibn Ayub, Additional Director, IQAC.

The ceremony officially commenced with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an and the National Anthem. The welcome address was delivered by Professor Dr. Md. Anwarul Islam, Additional Director, IQAC, who highlighted the significance of structured pedagogical training in ensuring quality education.



The event was graced by distinguished guests. Among them, Mr. Saif Uddin Ahmed, Director General (Additional Secretary) of BARD; Professor Dr. Md. Haider Ali, Vice-Chancellor of Comilla University; and Brigadier General Md. Nazim Uddin, BAM, President of Cantonment Board and Commander of Cumilla Cantonment, addressed the audience as Special Guests.



Professor Dr. A.F.M. Yusuf Haider, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dhaka attended as the Guest of Honor and emphasized the importance of continuous academic development.

The Chief Guest Professor Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul Islam, Honorable Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dhaka delivered his keynote speech, underscoring the university’s commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and global academic standards.

Following the inaugural session, Professor Dr. M. Rezaul Islam, Director of IQAC presented an overview of the activities of FCUTL 2026 outlining its comprehensive modules designed to strengthen teaching methodologies, institutional knowledge, and research capabilities.

Later, Dr. Md. Saiful Alam, Additional Director of IQAC discussed the learning objectives, outcomes, and overall importance of the program in shaping competent and innovative educators.
The first day also featured academic sessions under Module 1: Institutional and Legal Framework of the University of Dhaka, including lectures on the history of the university and governance structure under the Dhaka University Order, 1973.
The day concluded with a reflection session and assessment, providing participants an opportunity to evaluate their learning experiences.
The FCUTL 2026 program will continue over the coming days with a series of intensive modules covering global education trends, academic management, teaching strategies, research, and quality assurance.
