On 24 July, 2025: Starting university can feel like standing at a crossroads—so many exciting options ahead, but it can also be pretty overwhelming! To lend a helping hand to the newest members of the CSEDU family, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering recently hosted a warm and engaging seminar titled “Highlights on Career Opportunities for CSE Graduates.” This event was part of our Fresher’s Reception, specially designed for the 31st batch eager to dive into the world of computer science.
The students kicked things off with a cheerful welcome from their beloved teacher Dr. Md Mosaddek Khan. His words set a friendly and inviting tone for the event! But the highlight of the session came from Md Tanvir Hamid, a proud alumnus from the 11th batch of CSEDU. Now thriving at Oracle, where he works in the Alliances & Channels team for the SAGE West region and Bangladesh, he brought a wealth of knowledge and experience that truly resonated with our freshers.
Mr. Hamid took the stage for over 90 minutes, sharing his journey in a way that was both engaging and relatable. He spoke from heartfelt experience, recalling the challenges and questions every student faces at the beginning of their university life. His main message was crystal clear: “Your CGPA is important, but so are your skills! University sets a strong foundation, but how you build upon it is entirely in your hands.” He encouraged the audience to avoid getting swept up in trends and instead to explore the vast and vibrant field of Computer Science with curiosity and excitement. Drawing attention to topics like artificial intelligence in healthcare and the growing significance of climate tech, he painted a picture where Computer Science is about more than just coding—it’s about making a real and meaningful impact on the world. Mr. Hamid’s advice struck a deep chord: “Chase your passion, not just the money. Focus on what excites you, and everything else will follow.”
One of the most enriching parts of the seminar was the engaging Q&A session. Students eagerly raised their hands to ask about internships, job readiness, career paths, and more. Mr. Hamid answered with honesty, sharing insights and addressing the tough realities of the job market. He acknowledged that while there will be challenges ahead, being strategic, persistent, and curious can make a world of difference. One student reflected afterward, “I didn’t realize how much I needed to hear this talk until I experienced it. It really brought me clarity and motivation!”
As the end of the seminar, the department took a moment to honor Mr. Hamid with a crest—a small token of gratitude for his willingness to give back to the university that helped start his journey. Dr. Mosaddek Khan and Dr. Mosarrat Jahan both expressed their heartfelt appreciation for his time, insights, and inspiring presence. It was a touching moment that highlighted the importance of community and support in our CSEDU family.
In the end, this seminar was more than just another event; it was a celebration of the incredible possibilities that lie ahead for our students. It served as a friendly reminder that their journey is just beginning, and they hold the power to shape their own futures. The excitement and determination in the room were palpable, with freshers leaving inspired and ready to embrace their paths in the vast world of computer science. As they embark on this new adventure, we hope they carry with them the valuable lessons shared during the seminar, stay curious, and, most importantly, pursue their passions with an open heart. Together, as a community, we’ll navigate the journey ahead, cheering each other on every step of the way!
