A seven-member delegation led by Dr. Chen Zhimin, Vice President of Fudan University, China called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul Islam today August 04, 2026 at the latter’s office of the university. He was accompanied by Prof. Ping Zhang, Prof. Yin Zhiguang and Prof. Zheng Yu of the same university.

 Director of the Center for China Studies of DU Prof. Dr. Md. Rakibul Hoque and Director of Confucius Institute of DU Dr. Yang Hui were present on this occasion.

During the meeting they discussed the possibilities of introducing dual degree programs on artificial intelligence between Dhaka University and Fudan University, China. The Head of the Chinese delegation expressed his willingness in providing support for taking Visiting Fellow from the University of Dhaka at Fudan University to enhance academic activities on AI Governance. Undertaking joint research and publication programs as well as exchange of teachers, researchers and students between the two universities were also discussed in the meeting. They stressed the need for strengthening communication and sharing knowledge & research works among teachers, researchers and students between these two universities to enhance the qualities of researches. They agreed to sign a MoU in this regard soon.

DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul Islam expressed his willingness to work with Fudan University to expand academic and research collaboration as well as create more learning opportunities for youth. He said, the historical relationship between Bangladesh and China has been prevailing for long years. Bangladeshi students go to China every year for pursuing higher study, he pointed out. This bilateral ties between Bangladesh and China will be strengthened further in the days to come through education and research, he hoped. He sought cooperation from the guests in undertaking more collaborative programs as well as providing scholarship for Dhaka University students to pursue higher study in Fudan University.
