January 3, 2026: The certificate awarding ceremony of the first and second batches of the Professional Master’s in Information and Cyber Security (PMICS) program, offered under the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of the University of Dhaka, was held on January 3, 2026, in a festive manner at the Abdul Karim Sahitya Bisharad Auditorium of Bangla Academy.
Launched in 2023 for the first time in Bangladesh, the one-and-a-half-year professional master’s program aims to develop skilled human resources in computer science and strengthen the country’s cyber security ecosystem. Speakers at the event highlighted that the PMICS program has been playing a vital role in ensuring cyber security across both public and private sectors.


The ceremony was presided over by Professor Dr. Md. Abdur Razzaque, Chairman, Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering. The Vice Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan, attended the program as the chief guest. Special guests included Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Professor Dr. Upama Kabir. The founding Chairman of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, along with other distinguished personalities, was also present.




A total of 67 graduates received their certificates in Professional Master’s in Information and Cyber Security at the ceremony. Addressing the audience, speakers emphasized the importance of such professional program in developing skilled manpower in the cyber security sector and enhancing the country’s indigenous technological intelligence and capacity. They also expressed optimism about further expanding the scope of the program in the future.
